HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Thank you to all who have served our country in many different capacities. Each of you has made a difference in our daily lives allowing us our freedoms.
It is often difficult to thank those who have differing beliefs or values. Since this last election myself, along with many of my clients, have found it difficult to be thankful for our election process. However, whether one agrees with the current administration or not I must be thankful that I continue to have freedom of speech and the freedom to worship as I see fit.
"This is not the world I grew up in." This statement was often uttered by my late father. He was a man who had passionate beliefs and fiercely loved his God and his family. He was also very wise in admitting that the world continues to change. As I have addressed in previous blogs, change can be difficult. Yet it can also be educational and even uplifting. Change can often mean freedom. Freedom to choose a new path. Freedom to choose a new way of viewing the world. Freedom to choose to extend ourselves and help people in new ways.
Today as we celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, let's remember the freedoms we have. Let's make a new commitment to work to keep those freedoms in what ever way that means for each of us personally. Let's continue to work to accept one another and uplift each other's differences as unique and wonderful not threatening. As always, I will continue to say - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!
